Does Digby Essential Porcelain require a priming slurry before laying?

Yes. Vitrified porcelain has a non-porous underside with low water absorption, meaning standard mortar won't grip it on its own. Applying a polymer or SBR porcelain priming slurry to the back of every slab immediately before laying on the full wet mortar bed is required.

What joint width should I use for Essential Porcelain paving?

Essential Porcelain slabs feature machine-cut rectified edges, allowing for tight, modern joint lines. Maintain a joint gap of 4mm to 6mm, using designated outdoor tile spacers to ensure consistency.

Does Digby Essential Porcelain need to be sealed?

No. Because outdoor porcelain is virtually non-porous (absorbing less than 0.5% water), sealant cannot penetrate its surface. It naturally resists moss, algae, frost damage, and permanent staining without sealing.

How do I cut Essential Porcelain slabs on site?

Due to the density of 20mm vitrified porcelain, slabs must be cut using a wet table saw or angle grinder fitted with a continuous-rim diamond blade designed specifically for porcelain. Standard masonry or hand-splitter tools will fracture the tiles.
