Global Premium Sandstone 4-Size Paving (Project Pack) is a high-grade natural stone flagstone set (calibrated to a 22mm thickness) designed to construct traditional, random-pattern outdoor paving. The 4-size mixed pack contains a balanced combination of 900x600, 600x600, 600x300, and 300x300mm slabs, which eliminates repeating grid lines for a more organic finish.

How do I lay a 4-size project pack to avoid visible repeating patterns?

Follow a random laying guide where no more than three slabs of the same size or colour shade sit adjacent to each other, and avoid creating long unbroken joint lines. Drawing slabs vertically from multiple crates simultaneously helps distribute shades and sizes evenly across the patio.

What foundation is needed for 22mm calibrated natural stone?

Global Premium Sandstone slabs must be laid on a full wet mortar bed (4 parts sharp sand to 1 part cement) over a compacted 100mm sub-base (MOT Type 1). Slabs should never be spot-bedded ("dots and dabs"), as this creates hollow points that crack under weight and lead to moisture staining.

Do I need to prime the back of Global Premium Sandstone slabs?

Yes. Applying a polymer/SBR priming slurry to the underside of each stone flag before laying creates a strong adhesive bond with the wet mortar bed and acts as a barrier against water-borne salts and efflorescence.

What joint width should I leave between the slabs?

Leave a joint gap of 10mm to 15mm. This compensates for nominal hand-cut edge tolerances (+/- 3mm) and gives jointing compounds or mortar adequate space to lock the stones together securely.

Is Global Sandstone frost-resistant and easy to maintain?

Yes, high-grade natural sandstone is naturally frost-resistant when installed with adequate drainage (1:60 fall away from buildings). Sweeping regularly and applying a breathable stone sealer after installation protects against algae growth and light staining.
