100 x 100 x 3000mm Timber Fence Post Tanalised Green
This dip-treated fence post is designed to support fence panels and is suitable for all fencing projects, trellis panels and timber gates. The pressure treated post is incised for deeper preservative penetration.

A tanalised green timber fence post is a heavy-duty vertical upright used to provide upright structural support for garden fencing, gates, and outdoor boundary structures. Pressure-treated with Tanalith E wood preservative (which gives the wood its initial subtle pale green tint), it is engineered for direct ground contact to resist rot, fungal attack, and insect damage.
-
Supporting Wooden Fence Panels: Set directly into the ground with concrete (Postcrete) to support lap panels, closeboard, featheredge, or decorative garden fencing.
-
Gate Posts: Acts as a sturdy anchor for hanging garden gates, driveway gates, and timber side access doors.
-
Garden & Agricultural Boundary Fencing: Used with timber rails, post-and-rail systems, or wire mesh for livestock, pet containment, and field perimeter fencing.
-
Decking & Raised Structure Uprights: Functions as corner supports and upright posts for timber decking balustrades, pergolas, and raised garden borders.

How deep should a timber fence post be buried in the ground?
As a general rule of thumb, at least 600mm (2ft) or 1/3 of the total post length should be set below ground level.
Do I need to treat cut ends or trimmed tops of a tanalised post?
Yes. Whenever you cut or notch a pressure-treated post, always liberally coat the newly exposed wood with a specialist end-grain timber preservative. Fitting a decorative post cap or sloping the post top also helps shed rain and prevents top-down water penetration.
Will the pale green colour stay the same over time?
No. The initial pale green tint comes from copper salts in the Tanalith E treatment. As the wood is exposed to sunlight and weather, it gradually turns a warm honey brown before seasoning to a natural silver-grey after 6 to 12 months.
