What are the two profiles featured on a reversible skirting board?

Reversible MDF skirting boards feature two popular classic profiles - one on either side of the board. This allows you to match existing home mouldings or choose your preferred look using a single product.

Why choose MDF over solid wood skirting boards?

MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) is completely free of natural knots, grain defects, warping, and sap runs. It provides a perfectly smooth, stable surface that will not twist or split over time, making it easier to cut, paint, and install than traditional timber.

Does pre-primed MDF skirting need sanding before painting?

The factory-applied primer provides a smooth base, but a light sanding with fine-grade sandpaper (180–240 grit) along the length and profiled edges will remove any small site scuffs and help the final topcoat adhere perfectly.

How should MDF skirting boards be fixed to the wall?

Fix the boards using a high-grab panel adhesive applied in a zig-zag pattern along the back. For uneven masonry walls, reinforce the hold with lost-head nails or countersunk screws into wall plugs, then fill over the screw heads prior to topcoating.

Can MDF skirting be installed in bathrooms and kitchens?

Standard MDF is suitable for general dry indoor living areas. For bathrooms, wet rooms, or frequently mopped kitchen floors, moisture-resistant (MR) MDF skirting should be used, and all cut edges must be sealed with primer before painting to prevent water absorption and swelling.

How do I join reversible MDF skirting at internal and external corners?

For external 90-degree corners, cut a 45-degree mitre on a mitre saw. For internal corners, you can either cut opposing 45-degree mitres or scribe the chosen profile using a coping saw for a tighter, seamless join that accommodates non-square walls.
