• Tongue & Groove Joint Bonding: Primarily used to bond interlocking tongue and groove joints in P5 chipboard, OSB3, and hardwood flooring decks to create a sealed, continuous membrane that prevents board friction and floor squeaks.

• Structural Timber Assembly: Ideal for load-bearing wood joints, window and door frame manufacturing, staircases, furniture framing, and general joinery where maximum bond strength is required.

• High-Moisture & Exterior Environments: Formulated to meet EN 204 D4 standards, making it suitable for internal areas subject to frequent long-term water exposure or high humidity (such as bathrooms, wet rooms, and kitchens) as well as weather-exposed exterior timber joints (when protected by a surface finish).

What does the "D4" rating mean?

D4 is the highest European standard (BS EN 204) for PVA wood adhesives. It indicates that the glue forms a fully waterproof, high-strength bond capable of enduring long-term exposure to running water, high humidity, and extreme weather conditions.

How is D4 PVA different from standard white PVA glue?

Standard PVA (D1 or D2 rated) is water-soluble and intended only for dry indoor use. D3 offers light moisture resistance. D4 contains cross-linking polymers that make the cured bond entirely waterproof, weather-resistant, and significantly stronger under structural loads.

How much adhesive do I need for tongue and groove flooring?

A standard 1kg bottle typically covers approximately 10 to 15 m² of tongue and groove chipboard or OSB decking, depending on the groove depth and continuous bead thickness applied.

How long does it take for D4 PVA glue to dry and cure?

It achieves an initial handling clamp time within 15 to 30 minutes at room temperature. Full structural strength and total water resistance develop after 24 hours.

Can I use this adhesive for outdoor timber projects?

Yes. D4 PVA is fully rated for exterior application. However, for maximum long-term joint life outdoors, the finished timber joint should still be protected with an exterior paint, stain, or varnish.

How should excess glue be cleaned up after application?

Uncured, wet squeeze-out can be wiped away easily with a damp cloth. Once fully cured, the adhesive dries clear to semi-translucent and must be scraped or sanded off timber surfaces.
