What foundation is required for laying concrete utility slabs?

For shed bases and utility paths, lay the slabs on a compacted sub-base of MOT Type 1 (75mm to 100mm deep) topped with a full mortar bed (4:1 sharp sand to cement mix) or a sharp sand/cement dry mix spread evenly. Avoid spot-bedding on mortar dabs to prevent cracking under heavy loads like filled garden sheds or water butts.

Are Bradstone Peak Smooth slabs non-slip?

While the surface is smooth-planed rather than heavily textured, concrete inherently offers reasonable traction when dry. However, in wet or shady areas prone to algae growth, smooth concrete can become slippery, so regular sweeping and occasional jet washing is recommended.

Can these concrete slabs be cut easily on site?

Yes. You can cut Bradstone Peak slabs using an angle grinder fitted with a segment diamond masonry blade or a standard manual block/slab splitter. Always wear safety goggles and a dust mask when dry-cutting concrete.

Do Bradstone Peak Smooth slabs need to be sealed?

Sealing is optional. Because these are functional utility slabs, many homeowners leave them untreated. However, applying a basic concrete sealer can help prevent oil, rust, or organic leaf staining in bin stores and around sheds.
