What is the difference between overlap panels and feather edge panels?
Overlap (or lap) panels consist of thin, horizontal waney-edge slats overlapped and secured within a outer frame. Feather edge (closeboard) panels feature thicker vertical tapered boards fixed onto heavy-duty horizontal backing rails. Overlap panels are lighter and more economical, while feather edge panels offer greater strength and wind resistance.
How does dip-treating protect the timber?
Dip treatment involves fully immersing the assembled timber panel into a protective preservative bath. This coating shields the surface against fungal decay, rot, and insect attack.
How often should I retreat a Golden Overlap panel?
To maintain the warm golden-brown colour and keep the wood protected against water ingress and UV breakdown, reapply a coat of solvent- or water-based exterior fence treatment once every 12 to 18 months.
Can I install overlap panels with concrete posts?
Yes. The standard 6ft (1828mm) width fits standard slotted concrete fence posts and rests on top of concrete gravel boards to protect the bottom edge from ground moisture rot.
