FasTrack Black Geotextile Woven Folded 75gsm is a lightweight, high-tensile strength polypropylene membrane designed for ground stabilization and separation in landscaping and civil engineering projects.

It is primarily used for:

• Separation of Soil Layers: Preventing sub-base aggregates (like crushed stone or MOT Type 1) from sinking into and mixing with soft underlying soil or clay, maintaining structural integrity over time.

• Ground Stabilization: Distributing surface loads across driveway bases, garden paths, footpaths, patio sub-bases, and shed foundations to reduce rutting, sinking, and ground movement.

• Weed Suppression: Acting as a durable barrier under gravel driveways, garden borders, decking, and artificial grass to block weed growth while allowing air and water to permeate.

• Drainage & Filtration Support: Allowing water to drain through freely while filtering out fine soil particles, preventing drainage channels, soakaways, and pipe runs from clogging.

Timber products are typically delivered in one of our vans or pickup trucks. Delivery is kerbside and the final offloading position is always subject to safe access and the driver’s discretion.

What is the water flow rate / permeability of 75gsm woven geotextile?

Woven geotextiles allow water to filter through the tiny gaps between the woven polypropylene tapes. It permits vertical water drainage to prevent surface pooling, but it drains slightly slower than non-woven fleece membranes. For high-volume drainage applications (like French drains or soakaway wrappings), a non-woven membrane is generally preferred.

How much overlap is required when joining two rolls?

When laying multiple strips of FasTrack geotextile, overlap adjacent edges by a minimum of 300mm to 500mm. On soft, muddy ground or under driveways, increase the overlap to 500mm to prevent sub-base aggregates from forcing their way between the sheets under load.

Can FasTrack geotextile be left exposed to sunlight?

No. Polypropylene geotextiles degrade over time when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from sunlight. The membrane should be covered with stone, gravel, soil, or paving within a few days of installation to ensure long-term performance.

How do I cut FasTrack woven geotextile without it fraying excessively?

Use a sharp utility knife or heavy-duty shears. To minimize fraying along long cuts, cut cleanly in a single pass over a solid wooden board or backing surface. Securing the edges under sub-base aggregate immediately after cutting will hold the weave in place.
